What it prepares

The B2C side of your monthly return

Most marketplace sales go to buyers without a GSTIN, so these four tables carry most of a marketplace seller’s monthly figures.

Table 7 — B2C (others)

Net taxable value and tax for each place of supply and rate, with returns subtracted in the same bucket.

Table 12 — HSN, B2C tab

Quantity, taxable value and tax per HSN code and rate. Table 12 has had separate B2B and B2C tabs since 2025.

Table 14(a) — through marketplaces

Your sales grouped by each e-commerce operator’s GSTIN, for supplies on which the marketplace collects TCS under Section 52.

GSTR-3B Table 3.1(a)

Total outward taxable value with IGST, CGST and SGST for your B2C marketplace sales.

Step by step

How to prepare your GSTR-1 figures

  1. 01

    Download your tax reports

Meesho: the TCS sales and sales-return reports from the Supplier Panel. Flipkart: the sales report from Seller Hub Reports. Amazon: the Merchant Tax Report (MTR) for B2C. One month at a time.

  2. 02

Enter your GSTIN and the month

Your GSTIN sets your home state, which decides whether each sale is intra-state (CGST + SGST) or inter-state (IGST).

  3. 03

    Check the matched columns

The helper guesses which column holds the taxable value, GST rate, HSN, customer state and sale or return. Confirm or change each one; report layouts change, so never skip this.

  4. 04

    Add each marketplace’s GSTIN

Table 14 lists your sales by the marketplace’s GSTIN in your state. You can find it in the GST portal under TCS/TDS credit received, or on the marketplace’s TCS certificate.

  5. 05

Review, then take it to your CA

Read the warnings, download the Excel summary, and check the figures with your CA. The JSON file is for the GST portal’s offline upload, and should be verified before use.

How it’s calculated

The rules behind the numbers

Each row’s taxable value comes from the report, or is worked back from a tax-inclusive total as total × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). A sale to your own state is taxed as CGST and SGST at half the rate each; any other state is IGST at the full rate. Returns and refunds reduce the month; cancellations before invoicing are left out because no supply happened. Amounts are added up in paise and rounded to the paisa once per line.

Not covered — add these yourself

  • B2B sales to buyers with a GSTIN (Table 4) — rows with a buyer GSTIN are counted and left out.
  • Inter-state invoices above Rs 1 lakh (B2CL, Table 5) — flagged so you can report them invoice by invoice.
  • Table 13 documents issued — your invoice number series is added in the portal.
  • Input tax credit, the TCS credit claim and amendments of earlier months.
  • Cess, nil-rated, exempt and export supplies.

Sources, checked 2 November 2026

GSTN does not publish an official GSTR-1 JSON schema, so the export follows the GST Offline Tool’s documented layout and must be verified before upload. The date from which Table 12 split into B2B and B2C tabs is reported differently (February, April or May 2025) across GSTN advisories.

GST return helper FAQ

Is this GST return helper free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser. Your sales reports are read on your own device and are not uploaded to EcomFriendly.

Can I file my GST return with this tool alone?

No. It prepares the B2C figures for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B from your marketplace reports. You still need to check them, add any B2B, B2CL and documents-issued details, claim input tax credit and file on the GST portal — ideally with your CA. It is a helper, not tax advice.

Which marketplace reports does it read?

Meesho TCS sales and sales-return reports, the Flipkart sales report and the Amazon Merchant Tax Report for B2C, in .xlsx, .xls or .csv. Any other report works too if it has a taxable value or total, a GST rate and the customer’s state — you map the columns yourself.

How does it decide between IGST and CGST + SGST?

It compares the customer’s state (the place of supply) with the state code in your GSTIN. Same state means CGST and SGST at half the rate each; a different state means IGST at the full rate.

How are returns handled?

Returns are subtracted from sales in the same place-of-supply and rate bucket for Table 7, and in the same HSN and rate line for Table 12. If a bucket goes negative — usually a return of an earlier month’s sale — the helper warns you, since that is often reported as an amendment instead.

What is Table 14 and why does it need the marketplace GSTIN?

Since January 2024, GSTR-1 Table 14 asks sellers to show supplies made through each e-commerce operator, by that operator’s GSTIN. Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon each have a GSTIN in your state; you can copy it from the TCS/TDS credit received section of the GST portal.

Is the JSON file ready to upload?

Treat it as a draft. GSTN does not publish an official GSTR-1 JSON schema, so the file follows the GST Offline Tool’s known layout. Open it in the offline tool or check it with your CA before uploading it to the portal.
