GST Calculator: Add or Remove GST in Seconds
Add GST to a price or take it out of an inclusive one, with the CGST, SGST and IGST split shown. Uses the current GST 2.0 slabs — Nil, 5%, 18% and 40% — plus any custom rate.
| Taxable value | ₹1,000.00 |
|---|---|
| CGST (9%) | ₹90.00 |
| SGST (9%) | ₹90.00 |
| Total GST | ₹180.00 |
Presets follow the GST slabs in force from 22 September 2025(Nil, 5%, 18%, 40%). Confirm your product's rate by its HSN code.

How the GST calculator works
Choose whether your price already includes GST. To add GST, the tool multiplies the price by the rate: ₹1,000 at 18% becomes ₹1,000 + ₹180 = ₹1,180. To remove GST from an inclusive price, it divides instead of subtracting: ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000 taxable value and ₹180 GST.
Subtracting 18% from ₹1,180 gives ₹967.60, not ₹1,000 — the most common GST mistake. The percentage applies to the taxable value, not to the final price, which is why removing GST needs division.
CGST and SGST, or IGST?
When the seller and the buyer are in the same state, the GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state) — 18% becomes 9% + 9%. When the sale crosses a state border, the whole amount is IGST at the full rate. The total tax is the same either way; only who collects it changes.
For marketplace sellers, the buyer’s delivery state decides it. An order shipped from Maharashtra to a buyer in Karnataka is an inter-state sale and carries IGST.
The current GST slabs
Since 22 September 2025, the main GST rates are Nil, 5%, 18% and 40%. The 12% and 28% slabs were removed: most goods that used to be at 12% moved to 5%, and most at 28% moved to 18%, with a 40% rate for a short list of luxury and sin goods. A few special rates still exist, so the calculator accepts a custom rate.
Your product’s rate depends on its HSN code, not its category name. Check the rate against your HSN code before pricing.
What the new GST slabs mean for online sellers →Pricing a product with GST built in
Marketplaces show buyers a GST-inclusive price, so the price you list already contains tax you will pass on. Work out your margin on the taxable value, not the listed price. On a ₹599 product at 5%, the taxable value is ₹570.48 — that is the number your costs and fees have to fit inside.

How do I calculate GST on a price?
Multiply the price before tax by the GST rate. At 18%, ₹1,000 × 18% = ₹180 GST, so the price including GST is ₹1,180.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?
Divide the inclusive price by (1 + rate). At 18%, ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000 taxable value, and the GST is ₹180. Do not subtract 18% from the inclusive price; that gives the wrong answer.
What are the GST rates in India now?
Since 22 September 2025 the main GST rates are Nil, 5%, 18% and 40%. The earlier 12% and 28% slabs were removed. A few special rates still apply to specific goods, so check your HSN code.
When do I charge CGST and SGST instead of IGST?
CGST and SGST apply, split equally, when the supplier and the place of supply are in the same state. IGST at the full rate applies when they are in different states.
