Pad, crop or stretch
When your photo and the target size have different shapes, something has to give. Pad keeps the whole image and fills the empty space with a colour — white by default, which is what product photos usually need. Crop fills the frame and trims the edges from the centre, so check nothing important sits near the border. Stretch fills the frame exactly but distorts the product, so avoid it for anything a buyer will look at closely.
How to make product photos square without cropping →Sizes for marketplace product photos
Indian marketplaces generally want square (1:1) product photos, and 1000 × 1000 pixels is the common recommendation because it is large enough for zoom. Amazon requires at least 1000 pixels on the longest side for its zoom feature. Requirements change and published guides for Flipkart and Meesho disagree on details such as maximum file size, so check the current limits in your seller panel.
Product image size guide for Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon →Resizing up versus down
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making a small image larger cannot add detail that was never captured — a 400-pixel photo enlarged to 1000 pixels looks soft. Start from the largest original you have and resize down.
Image Resizer FAQ
How do I make an image square without cropping it?
Choose a square size such as 1000 × 1000 and select "Pad (keep whole image)". The full photo is centred and the remaining space is filled with your chosen background colour, usually white.
What size should product photos be?
Square, and 1000 × 1000 pixels is the common recommendation for marketplaces because it supports zoom. Amazon requires at least 1000 pixels on the longest side for zoom. Check your marketplace’s current limits for file size and format.
Can I resize many images at once?
Yes. Add up to 30 images; all of them are resized with the same settings and can be downloaded together.
Will resizing reduce quality?
Resizing down stays sharp. Enlarging a small image makes it softer because detail cannot be invented. Use the largest original you have.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser and the images never leave your device.
